Maugham Art Units of Study
In all levels I strive to have a multi-faceted approach to the teaching of art. I will teach the basic skills and knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design, but usually try to incorporate them into projects about a historical artist, art movement or design challenge so that students develop the understanding of how to apply the elements and principles toward their own expressive vision. Our art curriculum also integrates the media arts into various units by learning about and creating art using digital media. I also encourage students to bring their own interests and imagination to the tasks. Just as no two students are alike, I hope no two assignments in a class look alike.
